The Power Of Gratefulness

I urge you to do this today. Give your life another glance. Are your  basic needs met? Do you have a roof over your head? Do you have food on the table and clothes to wear? Do you have your health? Do you have family and friends that care for you?

If you’ve said YES to all the above questions, give the Universe and God a great big THANK YOU. Let your heart awaken to the transformative power of gratefulness.

Scarcity

When you worry about anything, your concentration  becomes like a laser. Clarity drives your thoughts to what’s important. Every day is a gift. You  get another day to get things right. Most of the time, you do and you’re grateful.

Worrying about money steals your joy. You think about it constantly. When you worry about money, you dread the days and the nights. Without thinking, you throw away the hours and inevitably, you cease to exist.

If you are worried about money today, remember that you have the power to change your mindset of lack and move to abundance and  prosperity. Money ebbs and flows. What we should remember is that abundance is our spiritual birthright. Mahalia Jackson said it best; It’s easy to be independent when you’ve got money. But to be independent when you haven’t got a thing, that’s the Lord’s test.”

There is no scarcity except in our souls.

Optimism

Imagine your life (every day) without your family and friends. No one to share your life, or help you with decisions.  Imagine EVERY holiday and birthday alone. Would you be able to cope? This is a bleak situation but many experience it. You might think you could get help or support when something devastating happens, UNTIL it happens and you realize that the people you thought you could count on were giving you “lip service.” “No help for you and I can’t be bothered. I’m just too  busy.”

In order to change the channel, you HAVE to continually see the glass as ½ full until your circumstances change and you get back on your feet. Lasting change doesn’t happen overnight. Lasting change happens in small increments. The change you need to make is fundamental. Learn how to be an optimist.

Optimism can be learned. Start small. Here are some ideas: 1) smile at people you meet, 2) expect something good to happen, 3) recognize the past can’t keep you captive.

The past holds you captive if you let it. Your abundant, optimistic life awaits!

Simple Abundance: 6 Points

It's amazing how a book or a resource gob-smacks you in the face when you're in a set of circumstances that overwhelm you.

Currently, I'm looking for a new residence and a new job. Chronologically, I'm 7 months away from 60. I don't feel it and I know I'm in a holding pattern with what will happen next. I read Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach when she was on The Oprah Winfrey Show. I liked the concept, then, because it was new and different. Now, I'm approaching it more so because it pertains to my circumstances of a simpler, less complicated life. Breathnach notes 6 points to her book. They are interconnected like puzzle pieces.

  1. Gratitude: When you're content and appreciative of what you have (i.e. health, roof over your head etc.) you've begun to build your foundation for joy and happiness.
  2. Simplicity: Gratitude leads you to paring things down and getting rid of all the stuff that you thought was important.
  3. Order: Simplicity brings a sense of order to things. This occurs internally and externally.
  4. Harmony: This comes next. When you're harmonious with life, you develop an inner peace that we all need to appreciate and value all beauty that is around you/us.
  5. Beauty. This is essential to your journey. Each of us has their own understanding of what is beautiful. Two people might see a Monet painting. One person loves it so much that it provokes tears each time they look at it. Another person might see it as a bunch of water colors with no cohesiveness or meaning.
  6. Joy: This is the last part to your spiritual journey. happiness is connected to joy. What makes you really happy? That is an individual choice.
As you pursue your journey, invite your spirit in and ask it to speak to your heart. Spirit WILL open you up to inner awareness. Listen to the still small voice. Watch how it leads you to unearthing your BEST SELF!

How do you develop your verve? You pay attention to details of your life. These details  teach you about your authenticity.

What are you PASSIONATE about? How can you connect the dots to a better you?
