Leadership And You (Part 5)

Employees should ride out the temper tantrums of their employer. If you quietly do your work and don't get upset, the employer will probably get over his or her anger and calm down.

You And Your Spirit (Part 23)

Risk is important in order to have a FULL Life. You can't "flow" if you have one foot on the shore. A healthy risk has these characteristics:

  • Enables your personal growth
  • Strengthens your self esteem
  • Expands your God-given talent(s)
  • Allows you to discover things about yourself
  • Tests your level(s) of courage
  • Deepens you emotionally
  • Releases your compassion
  • Releases your passion(s)
  • Releases love
Many times people don't risk because they don't want to fail. For many, risk=success. For some, success is scary.

Life is full of risks. Are you a risk taker? Try completing these statements:

  1. I never risk anything that might ____.
  2. When I'm at home, I need to risk _____.
  3. When I'm at school, I need to risk _____.
  4. I would like to risk learning about _____.
  5. I would love to risk people seeing _____.
  6. In a friendship, I need to risk ______.
  7. In love, I need to risk ______.
  8. In my life, I need to risk ______.
  9. In my faith, I need to risk _____.
  10. The person I KNOW is a risk-taker and someone I would learn from is ______.

An Imagined Future

Years ago, there was a commercial where a woman relaxed in a bubble bath and said, "Calgon, take me away!" The intention was to luxuriate in a warm bath and relax. But, there are many people that live a "Calgon" life. "I'll be happy when the house is paid off." "I'll be happy with more money." The list goes on and on. We get carried away by those moments and lose sight of what we have in the here and now.

The bottom line is our thoughts and how they drive us. If you're living in the "imaginary," you're not living in the NOW. And, you're DISCONNECTED and STRESSED. Once you make the connection between your thoughts and your stress, you'll be able to step back and recognize that if you can rein in your thoughts and bring them into the NOW, you'll have more control over your life.

Leadership And You (Part 4)

To finish what we start takes hard work, wise guidance, self-discipline and patience. Anyone with vision can start a big project. But vision without wisdom often results in unfinished projects and goals.

You And Your Spirit (Part 22)

Are you a "settler?"  A settler is someone who settles or accepts something LESS than they deserve! Granted, there are times when you have to settle for something less; BUT that doesn't mean you have to do it all the time. You know you've settled when:

  • You live someone else's dream.
  • You are prone to make others happy, when you're not.
  • Your life has no joy or passion to it.
  • You feel empty and lifeless.
  • You are bored a good portion of the time.
  • You wake up sad and go to bed that way.
  • You stopped setting goals for yourself.
  • You question whether your life is pleasing to GOD.
Only you are responsible for keeping your dream(s) alive. You have to make sure that you never let your passion(s) die. Nobody can give you a FULL life but you.

A FULL life is a result of a FULL EFFORT!

Do Nothing

I believe that each and EVERY one of us has to take 10 minutes a day to do absolutely NOTHING! Why? It brings you back to reality! We're so busy doing this and that, that we've overtaxed ourselves and lost sight of our FUN factor!

Spending a few minutes a day doing NOTHING, helps us from falling apart. It gives you a chance to find perspective and an opportunity to access the quiet part of your brain where wisdom and common sense exist.

Clearly, there are times when we're moving too fast. This is the best time to put on the brakes and slow down. At first glance, it might be counterproductive. One of the most powerful ways to achieve success is to do NOTHING for a few minutes a day. You won't believe what you discover (about yourself)!
