Learning From Kids

I think we get so tied up with schedules that we forget that LIFE IS ABOUT BALANCE. All work and no play makes __________________ (fill in your name) a dull boy/girl.

I believe that we can learn great things from kids. And, it doesn't matter how old the kid is. It's about taking a LQQK at what matters. Kids  don't really have any qualms about being perfect. They color outside the lines, spill things and aren't really bothered by clothes that don't match.

Somewhere along the line, we think we HAVE to have things figured out -- that EVERYTHING has to be perfect. Get a clue! Life ain't perfect. There are daily messes that are totally out of control. Thinking that we've got to control everything, only leads to lots of stress and unhappiness.

Don't kill yourself with perfection. It's only going to make you sick. Life shouldn't be about perfection. It should be about balance and moving toward it.

You And Your Spirit (Part 7)

Your spirituality needs a home. You need to find a place that makes you comfortable and relaxed. That could be at the beach, in a library, on a trail.

Whatever the case (or place), it must be a spot that invites you to stop and shut off all the worries of the world. It should be a "sacred spot." A place where you can find; and connect to God.

Public Speaking (Part 6)

Taping your speech (beforehand), is a good thing. Listening to your speech ahead of time, makes it less scary. Here are 5 tips you need to incorporate:

  1. Tape yourself at least 3 times as you rehearse your speech.
  2. Listen for clarity. Are you pronouncing your words clearly?
  3. Watch for the tempo. Are your sentences too long, too choppy?
  4. Time your speech. This will help you edit it.
  5. Use creative visualization. Close your eyes and see yourself standing in front of your audience and doing a good job!

YOLO (You Only Live Once)!

Katie Couric's new talk show is evolving. I have to say that I liked her on The Today Show. I don't watch her show consistently but one day, I was transfixed. She talked about YOLO and how ALL of us need to remember that we ALL have to seize the day, and strive for balance. That means an equal amount of work and play. It's never too late to start. Here are some questions to PUSH you in a different (positive) direction:

  • Are you carefree? Are you playing on a regular  basis?
  • Are you appreciating the little things around you?
  • Are you authentic and truthful?
  • Are you dreaming BIG?
  • Are you laughing out LOUD?
  • Are you living with passion?
The choice is yours. Have a YOLO day!

You And Your Spirit (Part 6)

If you're new to spirituality, think about it this way >>  LQQKING at something for the very first time! Seeing it with reverence and awe. LQQK at it with beauty!

Spirituality is about listening to your life. Listen to your heart, mind and spirit. Listen to what you want to do, and BE!
